I’m LaShae Baugh, but you can call me ShaeButter. I’m a Nashville poet, author and storyteller, a curly-hair girlie, plant-based, a wife, and a professional yapper 🤭
I experience life, I notice things, and I have something to say about them. Then I bring you with me.
My story
I’ve always been a writer.
For as long as I can remember, I wrote short stories. In my teens, I started writing poetry, and I’ve been processing life on paper ever since.
My life has moved through a few cities. I studied communication in the desert heat of Las Vegas, then spent years in New York City as a special education teacher, helping students feel seen. Now I call Nashville home, and I’m learning to stop just living here and start experiencing it.
Those seasons became Between Sunrise & Sunset, my debut collection of poetry and prose. I wrote it to give women hope and a voice, for the seasons between who we were and who we are becoming. From the desert heat of Las Vegas to the grace of surrender, every poem is a prayer.
It took me years of posting online to realize I don’t have a niche. I have a life. And I’m learning to live it fully enough to have something worth saying about it.

What keeps me grounded
Learning to be content.
My faith is the foundation under everything I write. In this season, I’m learning the secret Paul wrote about in Philippians 4:11: how to be content in all circumstances. Through life’s ups and downs, I believe gratitude and giving thanks to God will sustain us.
