- 2 cups Warm Water Microwave for 1 minute 30 seconds. The water should be warm, like bathwater, but not hot.
- 1/4 cup Sugar
- 1.5 tbsp Instant Yeast
- 1.5 tsp Salt
- 1/4 cup Olive Oil You can use vegetable oil, but I personally prefer olive oil.
- 5.5 Cups Flour You can use all-purpose flour, but I prefer bread flour.
1. Prepare the Yeast:Dissolve the sugar in warm water.Add the yeast and let it sit for 10-15 minutes, until it becomes foamy.
2. Mix Wet and Dry Ingredients:Once the yeast has proofed, mix in the vegetable oil.In a separate bowl, combine the flour and salt.
3.Combine Ingredients:Gradually add the flour mixture to the yeast mixture, one cup at a time, stirring until a soft dough forms.
4. Knead the Dough:Knead the dough on a lightly floured surface for 3-5 minutes, until smooth and elastic.
5.First Rise:Place the dough in a lightly oiled bowl, turning it over to coat both sides. Cover with a clean towel and let it rise for 1 hour, or until doubled in size. 6. Shape the Loaves:Punch down the dough and shape it into two loaves. Place the loaves in greased bread pans. 7. Second Rise:Let the loaves rise again for 30-40 minutes. 8.Bake:Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake the bread for about 30 minutes, or until the tops are golden brown.
9. Optional Finishing:Enjoy your freshly baked bread!Brush the tops of the baked loaves with vegan melted butter or oil for a soft crust.Enjoy your freshly baked bread!
